Ginger Simple Syrup

Quick and easy fresh ginger simple syrup

Ingredients

  • 2-3 knobs of fresh ginger (large)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup white sugar

Instructions

  • Slice your ginger (unpeeled) into ¼ inch rounds. You'll need about a cup of sliced ginger.
  • Add the ginger, water, and sugar to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over a medium-high heat.
  • Reduce to heat to medium-low and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  • Once the syrup reaches your desired strength, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to a jar or other storage container.
  • Refrigerate up to one month.

Notes

Throughout the cooking process, I'd recommend doing a taste test every 5 minutes or so until you get to your desired strength. 
Ginger French 75: Add 1 oz. gin, 1/2 oz. lemon juice, 1/2 oz. ginger simple syrup, 3 oz. sparkling wine to a glass. Garnish with a lemon peel twist.
