A few years ago, for a friend’s glamorous New Year’s Eve party, I convinced myself I just had to make a chic and unique cocktail to bring. It needed to be celebratory, easy to make, and delicious. My answer? A bubbly, spicy Ginger French 75. All I needed was sparkling wine, gin, lemon juice, and homemade ginger simple syrup. It was so good!
In my opinion, fresh ginger is one of the most underrated flavors. It’s spicy, bold, invigorating, and pairs well with so many different flavors. This recipe is also unbelievably easy to make! You don’t even need to peel the ginger. Trust me on this one. You’ll be straining it anyway, save yourself the time and energy.
Ways to use ginger simple syrup: I typically always think about cocktails when it comes to this syrup. You’ve got the French 75 of course (recipe at the end) or a Moscow Mule. But, if cocktails aren’t your thing. It’s amazing in hot green tea with a slice of lemon when you’re sick. Or try a sparkling lemonade – Add an ounce or two to a glass filled with half lemonade and half sparkling water.
